Protect Yourself… With Chicken?

Chicken is a tasty bird if you ask me. You can fry it and bake it- grill it season it and boil it!

However, did you know you can use the different parts in hoodoo rituals?

Let me explain before you get freaked out: Different parts of the chicken have been used in hoodoo for centuries.

In this article we will take a look at the main parts used and what they’re used for.

The main use for the parts are for cleansing.

What came first: The chicken or the egg?

Most people are familiar with the egg cleanses but that’s pretty much it.

20180926_0752057913972230077503674.jpg

Eggs help to remove blockages, curses and illness. Brush yourself in a downward motion from the top of your head to your toes, as you pray to Spirit to remove whatever is blocking you or causing illness. After you’ve finished the removal, crack egg by a few different ways: you can throw against a tree in your backyard, you can crack egg in glass of water and take to crossroads to dispose of (leave offering to chosen crossroads spirit of choice) and leave glass, don’t return to this point, another way you can dispose of the egg is to crack in a glass of water and take 2 broom straws and form a cross over glass to keep negativity inside and leave at the base of a tree away from your house.

Chicken wings can be woven together to create a fan used for a ‘sweeping’ style cleanse. Following the same method starting at top of head moving to feet, you want to ‘sweet’ away the bad juju while praying for the removal or creating a banishing spell in your own words. (Black Rooster Wings are a favorite)

Chicken feet are ugly- but they’re great for protection and removals. Chickens scratch things with their feet and thus we use the feet to ‘scratch away’ crossed conditions and overall negative energy. Same method – starting at the top of the head (holding the foot about an inch away from body) and working your way down to the toes, you will read Psalm 23 or 91. When time to wipe feet down, wipe in a heel to toe direction. (Perform this 9 nights in a row)

Now make sure when using the feet- you clean them and dry them out, you can even pain them red and black for protection.

You can use Florida Water or Van Van to cleanse feet energy after your removal and to boost their protective energy.

The Dirty Truth of Hoodoo

In Hoodoo, we work with what we have – and luckily we lots of dirt to use on our planet.

Well why would we be using dirt in a spell?

Welllllll guys, its an ELEMENT and directly connected to the location it’s found at!

Modern practitioners use talc and cornstarch as a base for their hoodoo dirts/powders; however our ancestors used ACTUAL DIRT and GROUND ROOTS.

<NOTE> Don’t forget to pay the spirits of the dirt before taking it!
So lets talk dirt examples and their uses, so you know what I mean:

Lavender’s Influential Powers

Most of us know the amazing effects of lavender because it’s used in all kinds of things from shampoo, to candles, to ointments, to air fresheners!

This potent herb has over 40 species to choose from and is from the mint family!

Mostly we know it calms and relaxes us with its soothing medicinal properties that help us sleep better.

However, in Hoodoo we use this herb slightly different!

36928146_10156159536240342_7051308458523492352_n

The first thing we think of of for ‘love’ magic is usually rose and jasmine.

Did you know lavender is used to DOMINATE a situation?

Whether it be to return a lover, make them more susceptible to your seduction or convincing a boss or neighbor to do something for you.

Lavender helps to subdue your target and influence him or her to do exactly what it is you need them to do.

It has the power of persuasion and when mixed with other dominating herbs makes a powerful tool in your witchy arsenal.

*Tip*

Mix lavender essential oil with olive oil and apply to skin (behind ears, behind knees, bottoms of feet and underarms) when needing to hypnotize your target to get your way!

Cinn-fully Sweet

In Hoodoo, we use hella-amounts of cinnamon, because it’s seemingly one of the most accessible and versatile herbs in America. It’s used mostly for fast money, love, protection and purification spells, baths and mojos. Cinnamon moves spells along faster.

Whether it’s on a candle or in your cider, use cinnamon on a regular basis for health benefits as well as love & money attraction work.

Cinnamon is a very distinct spice. There are 2 basic types of cinnamon: Ceylon & Cassia. In the United States, Chinese cassia is the most common type of cinnamon used. According to How Stuff Works, Sri Lanka produces much of the world’s Ceylon cinnamon, even though the tree is also commercially grown in Brazil, the Caribbean and India, although harder to get as it’s the more expensive and better version for dietary uses.

According to CNN, Cinnamon has been used in Ayurvedic medicine to treat respiratory and digestive problems for centuries. Ancient Egyptians used cinnamon as a perfume during the embalming process, while Romans used it in funeral pyres to mask the stench of burning flesh. The buds are also used as a spice, especially in India, and were once used by the ancient Egyptians and Romans.

The Magic of Garlic

Garlic has been around for ages and is one of the most popular veggies on the planet. Garlic is one of those things we eat everyday to flavor our foods; but may not know all of the properties of this magical root vegetable.

Across our planet from Ancient Egypt to China to India and Rome to the United States we see the use of garlic expand. Currently, in the west, we use this bulb vegetable to season other foods. However, did you know that garlic has been used for years as a talisman to ward off evil by most of the ancient cultures?

In Hoodoo we use garlic, which is ruled by MARS, to ward off evil, enemies, unwanted guests and to protect the overall home environment. This powerful root veggie is one of the most powerful and effective protection tools in our arsenal as conjurers.

I read on Healthline, that raw garlic is high in vitamins and minerals, such as vitamins C & B-6, Selenium and Manganese – all of which promote healthy hair. It also protects keratinocytes, which are skin cells on the outside layer of skin that produce keratin.

A basic garlic oil made right at home can be your answer for multiple uses!

This bath should be performed before dawn and before/after any uncrossing spell-work that is performed.
You can do this bath in odd intervals such as: 1/3/5/7/9/13 days in a row until you feel your work is completed.
Make sure you start at your head and pour the bath downwards to your feet making sure to pour the bath all over you. Try to catch some of the bath water that has run off so you can dispose of it at the cross roads far from your home and job later!
*This should be done during a void-of-course moon or waning moon phase, if possible.
*Add cascarilla at the end as added protection!

*While your making your bath you speak your intentions into the potion or pray psalm 91 and psalm 23 over it. Whatever feels best to you.
